Soulfully Inspired Spiked Tea (cold and hot versions)

by Dawn Reid, PhD, PCC 19 Mar 2026
Edit the image so that ONLY the shirt color of the man on the right (the first person on the right side of the image) changes from light blue to a rich medium green (emerald/forest tone). Keep his face, hair, skin tone, pose, and all other people unchanged. Keep the rest of the scene identical: drinks, table items, string lights, backyard bokeh, lighting, and composition. Photorealistic, seamless color change.

The vibe

There’s something about spring and summer evenings that makes tea taste like a memory. That warm breeze rolling through the yard, somebody’s playlist drifting between neo-soul and old-school classics, and the conversation jumping from laughs to hot topics without anyone checking the time. Add a few fireflies and a glass that sweats like it knows it’s doing its job—and you’ve got the perfect setup for a Soulfully Spiked Tea.

The recipe is built around the Smokey Orange Vanilla Black Tea (available in the Soulful Sips 4U Online Café shop). It’s bold, a little mysterious, with a smoky citrus-kiss—made for catching a vibe with friends.

What you’ll need:

Tools + glassware

  • Tall Tom Collins glass (iced version)
  • Teacup or heat-safe mug (hot toddy version)
  • Shaker
  • Spoon (hot toddy version)

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 6–8 oz strongly brewed Smokey Orange Vanilla Black Tea (brew strong so the flavor still sings over the ice)
  • 1 oz (1 shot) Tennessee honey whiskey
  • 1 oz (1 shot) Grand Marnier orange liqueur
  • Ice (iced version)
  • Optional: simple syrup or agave syrup (Southern variation for extra sweetness)
  • Garnish: orange slice (both versions)
  • Optional (hot version): cinnamon stick/slat

Photorealistic lifestyle beverage shot for a boutique tea brand. Foreground: a tall Tom Collins glass filled with amber iced tea, visible ice cubes, slight condensation, garnished with a fresh orange slice on the rim. Optional subtle cinnamon stick resting beside the glass (not in drink). Set on an elegant summer evening tablescape: linen napkin, small plate with orange slices, vintage brass or gold-toned cocktail shaker, tea tin or loose-leaf tea jar (unbranded), and warm-toned wooden table. Lighting: golden-hour transitioning to dusk, warm cozy glow. Background: beautifully landscaped backyard with bokeh blur, string lights hanging, soft lantern light, hints of greenery and patio seating; dreamy shallow depth of field. Mood: nostalgic, soulful, inviting, spring/summer evening vibe. No people. No text. High resolution, natural color grading, cinematic bokeh.

Soulfully Spiked Iced Tea (Tom Collins version)

1. Brew the tea strongly. Make 6–8 oz of Smokey Orange Vanilla Black Tea and let it cool.

2. Shake it up. In a shaker, add:

  • Ice
  • Strongly brewed tea
  • Tennessee honey whiskey
  • Grand Marnier
  • Optional simple syrup or agave (to taste)

3. Shake to mix. You’re not trying to water it down—just chill it and marry the flavors.

4. Pour over fresh ice in a tall Tom Collins glass.

5. Garnish with an orange slice.

Enjoy. Best served outside, where the breeze is warm, and the conversation is even warmer.

Photorealistic lifestyle beverage shot for a boutique tea brand. Foreground: a clear glass mug filled with steaming hot amber tea toddy, subtle steam visible, garnished with an orange slice and a cinnamon stick in the mug. Set on an elegant evening tablescape: linen napkin, small plate with orange slices and cinnamon sticks, a vintage brass or gold-toned cocktail shaker, and an unbranded loose-leaf tea jar. Warm cozy lighting, dusk ambiance. Background: blurred backyard patio scene with bokeh string lights but slightly different from prior—include a soft glow from a small tabletop lantern or candle and hints of a fire pit or patio heater shape in the distance; greenery and patio seating suggested. Dreamy shallow depth of field, cinematic bokeh. No people. No text. High resolution, natural color grading.

Spiked Hot Tea Toddy version (cozy-but-still-soulful)

1. Make the tea according to the package and keep it hot.

2. Carefully add the spirits. Pour the hot tea into a teacup or heat-safe mug, then add:

  • 1 oz Tennessee honey whiskey
  • 1 oz Grand Marnier
  • Stir gently.

3. Handle with care. Hot water can burn—move slowly, keep a steady grip, and don’t overfill your cup.

4. Sweeten if you want. Add simple syrup or agave for that Southern touch.

5. Garnish with an orange slice and (optional) a cinnamon stick/slat.

Enjoy. It’s the kind of drink that makes porch talks feel like therapy.

Make it a moment

If you’re hosting, set out a little “build-your-own” garnish station: orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and a sweetener option.  Add different-styled drinkware and a vibing tablescape to add mood. Don't forget the neo-soul or jazz ambiance. Let everybody customize their cup while the sun goes down.
